I ain't spending thousands of hours regrinding every single class though. I would love to give them more than $0 beyond the boxed copies but DigitalRiver throws so many fits that I can't. To go with the above, some people (like me) have a hard time actually buying stuff in the game because their payment processor (DigitalRiver) is not very good and sometimes gives people big problems. There's actually a surprising amount of these I'd say, with thick wallets, enough where even with the 30% (eventually 20) you're usually coming out on top just because Steam users are spending more than they would have otherwise. You're missing out on the money of the people who have large Steam wallets and prefer using Steam but used the launcher because they had no choice.
While sure people can go around posting about how it's not accurate because there's another launcher (and be 100% correct), a very low player count on Steam will only help spread the idea (that you already see in this thread) that GW2 is dead and turn people off. An overall negative review score destroys your presence across the entire store and massively hurts the game's ability to get to the new hands they want to reach.īy only letting new people play, you're hurting your player count on Steam. Things that can go wrong by doing this:Įxisting players can (from experience - will) still buy the game, afk 10 minutes, neg review the game over not letting them use their normal account, and refund. It's one of those things that on paper makes sense but in reality it often doesn't.
